Fused glass pendants

 The Farmers Markets so far this season are exclusively open for vendors who are farmers or food sellers. We are neither, but are still making product and looking for a venue.

We have an Etsy shop that has been sadly neglected for several years. But now we are returning and happy to reconnect with our loyal customers.

These lovely fused glass pendants are created using dichroic glass.

Handmade Paper

This year, I am ahead of the game and actually have made lots of paper!!!!  (This hardly ever happens). I am usually scrambling in the middle of the markets, having sold out with no paper to make more cards and/or bookmarks :)

Ron is now making glass drinking straws. Different lengths and diameters. Straight and bent styles. Prices vary according to size.

It's 2016!

Every new year brings a new beginning. Full of promise and hope and optimism. And time to reflect on the year that just passed.

Reg and Erin's dinner theatre, Theatre in the Country, ended the year on a high note. With amazing productions planned for 2016.

We had fun with Meadow Impressions. Lots of markets and craft shows. Time consuming and hard work but so rewarding. This winter Ron has some special projects for customers plus, as usual, something for Suzanne and Ken, who have been so generous to us. I have paper to make, flowers to colour, and some ideas for more crackle pictures.

There are ongoing renovations in the house. So far, our plans include: finishing the indoor shutters (I know, the pictures on facebook looked like we had finished them, but no), tackling the kitchen countertops and crooked cupboard doors, installing ceiling tiles in the hallway. Etc.

We spent some time in Vancouver over Christmas. We were babysitting Missy the cat and Nibbles the bird. We brought Lucy with us and she had a great time. Off leash dog parks every day.

Tiles

Whenever we visit our family in Arizona, we love to go to craft shows and artisan shops and always get inspired. We have been lucky to find glass artists who are happy to share their discoveries. One such generous artist at a Fountain Hills craft show introduced us to the concept of glass tiles. Each tile has three layers: base colour, dichroic glass and a clear top. 

Each tile is cut to make matching pendants, bracelets, earrings, etc.

Jewelry Sets

When glass is melting in the kiln, it will stretch as it melts. The dichroic surface cannot stretch so it has to fracture. It fractures into patterns that cannot be duplicated.

In order to have matching pieces, the glass must be fired at the same time. (Like snowflakes, no two are alike).
